When it comes to making your own products you want to keep things simple. This natural cleaner base recipe can be transformed into almost any type of cleaner you need.
Once you have put together your natural cleaner base recipe the only addition you will need to make is choosing what Essential Oils you want to add. How you decide this will depend on what the cleaner is for, as each Essential Oil has different qualities.
Natural Cleaner Base Recipe
- 35ml Castile Soap or an environmentally friendly dish detergent/soap
- 450mls Distilled Water (This helps preserve your recipe and prevents streaking/mineral deposits, if you happen to live in an area that has “hard” water)
- Essential Oil(s) of your choice. 50-60 drops (approx 2-3mls) is a good ratio of essential oil to cleaner for a 500ml glass bottle.
Mix all the ingredients, in your amber, glass spray bottle.
Remember to give your cleaning solution a good shake before each use.
Experiment with different Essential Oils, find what scents you like and what works best in your home.

Always handle essential oils with care.
Although Essential oils are natural, they are potent (that’s what gives them their power). If they do come in contact with your skin and cause irritation then rub a “carrier oil” on to the affected area to dilute it. (This can be any oil such as coconut, almond, avocado or olive oil).
Some people may be allergic to certain oils so use with care.
Some oils should be avoided during pregnancy and around small children.
Keep all oils out of reach of children
