Stress is one of those things that is really hard to anticipate. It’s completely reactionary and usually depends on your environment. Learning how to prevent stress might be a long term process, but there are a few things you can do in the moment to clear your mind and free you of any anxiety. So, how can you rid yourself of stress?
Ditch the gadgets
Often being overconnected with people can be a source of stress. Technology and social media can be a constant source of stimulation, which can be exhausting. Sometimes it’s a good idea to take a step back and ditch your phone for a while. Space is a good thing, and this is probably the best way to get it.
Confide in someone
Talking to someone you trust, and whose opinion you respect, is a great way to let out some tension. Especially if you’re carrying a lot of weight on your chest, confiding in a friend is a great way to lighten that load. Sometimes we just need to vent, and friends often have good advice that can help.
Sort out your finances
With research proving that money is one of the biggest causes of stress it’s important to make sure you set up a budget that works. Mapping out where your finances are going and having a physical representation of how much you need to save per week or month, can help you to visualise your goals far more clearly. This can assist with providing clarity and can lower stress levels when you are assured that you’re on track. Setting a realistic (and exciting) goal can also help you resonate more strongly with the process.
Reassess your situation
If you are feeling stressed but aren’t sure why, it may be a lifestyle factor that’s causing some tension. Things such as a poor diet and alcohol can definitely cause physical pressures and increase anxiety levels. Even coffee can have a negative impact on your body. Consider a detox, or exercising more. Everything you put in your body should intend to nourish it, not harm it.
It’s important to let yourself relax whenever you can. Something like meditation, a warm bath, or simply reading a book can help you to unwind. An increase in blood flow can help your brain to produce more endorphins, making you feel happier.
If you follow a few of these steps, you should be right on track to lower your stress levels in no time.
Do you have any great tips for for how to clear your mind of stress?
